Doctor's Advice - Question / Answers

Question: My daughter is 2 years & 2 months old. She has been coughing since she was 1 year old We have shown her to doctors and everyone says she is allergic. We have given her both allopath and homeopath medicines. But have found no major improvements since coughing persists. Due to continuous coughing at times, we also observe minor heavy breathing & wheezing. I don't want to give her allopath medicines due to side effects. I gave her Divya Swasari Pravavhi for 20 days or so and found that her continuous coughing stopped for almost 2 months and she was only coughing once or twice in a day. But since last 3 days again she had continuous coughing. Please suggest if I can continue giving her same medicine and what quantity and for how long and if I should give her some additional medicine to cure her problem completely. I will be very thankful for your help.

It can be continued along with Divya Sitopaladi churnam - 1/2tsp with honey thrice daily after food for a month. Then you can give her Divya Chyawanaprash with Saffron for 3months which will help to improve the immunity and resistance to infections. This helps to prevent the recurrence of the symptoms. Question: I have cough only for 30-40 minutes during a day it is occurring mainly in the morning and evening. when coughing i experience some particular sound from my respiratory system. after 30-40 minutes I experience normal breathing. Is it because of allergy of something? i don't have any other problem such as diabetics or BP. I am taking DIVYA Swasari Pravahi (Ayurvedic medicine) for cough but no relief is there. Please help me for this problem.

Answered by Dr.Ramani : Seasonal allergy is a common cause for cold and cough during rainy or winter season. The seasonal change in weather causes a mild swelling of the mucous membrane to swell with more secretions. The allergens like pollens cause the symptoms with immediate reaction by producing histamines. There will be a late response after 8hours also due to the allergy. Ayurvedic medicines like Dasamoola katutrayadi kwath - 15ml with 60ml of warm water before food twice daily, Divya Sitopaladi churnam and Divya Chyawanaprash with Saffron can be taken for a month and then reviewed. Include horse gram, honey, tulsi, pepper, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, turmeric and long pepper. Avoid excess meat, dairy products, sugar, salt, oil and cold refrigerated foods. Pranayamam like anuloma viloma. ujjayi and kapalabhati can be practised.
