    Question: Dear Doctor, Recently, I had a high blood pressure since my BP reading was 170/120. After that, one Indian doctor suggested me to take Hyzaar 50mg. I am taking it almost for about a month. Now, yesterday I had checked my BP, it was 130/90. I am doing physical exercise,yoga, pranayams and reducing salt in my food, eating chapathis, vegetables, cutting down fried items, taking only low fat yoghurt. Yesterday I have taken Tulsi green tea. Whether cereals like cornflakes are good. Whether I can stop this Hyzaar tablets gradually may be after a month or two maintaining it to normal level. My trigliceride shows 231 which is little high. I think, it should be within 200. Any particular medicine or any particular food I shoul take. Probably, I should the sugar level and may be I have to cut down the fruit juices which contains more sugar instead I can have fruits right. Even, bread also I think, I shoul reduce.     Answered by Dr.Ramani : Dizziness sometimes happens in orthostatic hypertension. The systolic reading reduces by 20mm/Hg while checking the blood pressure again within 5min. It normally happens due to the pooling of blood either in the brain as when it happens when you sleep or wake up which is the postural hypertension. The same happens when the systolic blood pressure drops after standing for a long time or after exercising. So basically there is a poor blood flow to the brain. So it becomes better when you bend forward. Try to take your blood pressure medicine regularly. Try following some tips to see whether it makes any changes. Try to sleep with the head elevated while sleeping. Always try to wake up slowly. Avoid standing continously. Do exercise your calf muscle to increase the flow of blood and try to do exercise like leg raising. Yogasanas like sarvangasana, halasana, shalabhasana will be beneficial. Please let me know how you feel after a week.
