The color of the lips turning darker than usual could be due to sun exposure, hormonal changes, excessive coffee and sometimes illness.
Ayurvedic medicnes like Divya Khadira arishta - 20ml after food morning and night, Mahatiktaka ghrtam - 1 tsp before food morning and night are effective. Apply Mahatiktaka ghrtam externally in the lips.
You can also try applying a mixture of honey, glycerin and lemon juice to lighten dark lips naturally. Almond oil, cucumber, rose petals, beet root, yoghurt can be tried for external application.
Eat healthy food with more vegetables and fruits. Drink enough water. Exercise regularly. Use good quality lipstick and lip balms.

27years,pregnant lady(6th month),suffering with cold from 2days........she is not using any type of tablets now...she is very good in health condition(no diseases)....sleep 8hours/day...please advice medicine or tip in ayurveda
Answered by Dr.George :
Warm wishes from my yog. As any other person cough and cold will happen for pregnant ladies also.
There may be a slight variation in your immune system so as not to reject your unborn baby. Your immunes will be slightly low. Any how the cough and cold if not associated with high fever leave that as such. It will subside in a week even though you won't take any medicines.
Take enough rest to the body. Use warm water. A steam inhalation will ease you from nasal and chest congestion. Use some mild balm over the forehead and chest. You can take taleesapathradi choorna a few pinches for several times a day will help you to ease again the cough symptoms.
If there is a high fever or any such symptoms it is better to get a medical consultation.
Regards Dr George.
I am 25 year old boy.My lips is getting darker because of smoking habit. Is there any ayurvedic medicine to reduce the darkness of my lips .currently I am working in UAE.Kindy expecting your reply .
Answered by Dr.Ramani :
Lips get darker generally in those who smoke but happens in non smoker's also. If it is from birth, it is fine but if it has started after smoking it will reduce if you stop or reduce. So now you know what can reduce it. Better start trying which will reduce your darkness and also reflect a good health. The chemicals like carbonmonoxide mixes with the blood and makes it look dark. Try Ayurvedic medicines like Mahatiktaka ghrtam - 1tsp before food morning and night and also apply the same to your lips with a gentle massage, Divya Khadira arishta - 20ml after food morning and night and Triphala Churnam - 1 tsp with warm water at bed time.
Eat healthy food with more vegetables and fruits. Reduce exposure to sunlight and use a lip balm. Drink enough water. Exercise regularly.
